DPP Parliamentarians block Chilima in favor of Mutharika

Members of Parliament for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Wednesday endorsed Peter Mutharika as torch bearer during the upcoming 2019 tripartite elections. The endowment comes as campaign over Vice president Saulos Chilima to stand in 2019 continue gathering momentum.

Speaking during the press conference held at Golden Peacock in Lilongwe, Parliamentarian Victor Mbewe said Mutharika has demonstrated love and that he has transformed the country well. Mbewe said because of his loving spirit Mutharika is the only candidate who can continue well in developing this country.

Mbewe said recalling the commitment that His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika expressed that he would not abandon the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) after the death of its founder His Excellency Ngwazi Professor Bingu Wa Mutharika and keeping in mind the promise that His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika made that he would not flee the country come rain come sunshine but stick around with the people of Malawi as back benchers Parliamentarian they totally endorse Mutharika.

Mbewe said Mutharika has shown unflinching resilience rebuilding the Democratic Progressive Party at a time when some fled and others clung to thin hope. “Not forgetting the tenacity of spirit of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to remain strong and focused through the valleys of victimization and winters of persecution by the powers that were taking into account the mettle of His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika in taking the Democratic Progressive Party back into government against the forcefulness of odds,” said Mbewe.

Vincent Ng’ambi was the one seconding the endorsement by Mbewe saying currently Karonga is beautiful and has water project underway. “What it means is that it’s the only person, Mutharika, to drive the agenda for development,” said Ng’ambi. Mac Bottoman of Zomba Chisi constituency said Zomba has benefitted tremendously from Malawi rural electrification program.

 

 

Member of Parliament for Chiladzulo South Joseph Mwanamveka also spoke saying Mutharika has done tremendous develop especially in his constituency. He cited Marep Program, Good roads, Teachers training college. Anna Kachikho also spoke in favor of the endorsement saying with enormous development which has happened in her constituency, only Mutharika can. Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Esther Mcheka Chilenje, Change Golo Uladi Mussa also joined the chorus on endorsement.
