Malawi Loses K14Billion Due to Demonstrations

By Alfred Mthandizi

Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce (MCCCI) has estimated that Malawi on Friday lost K14Billion because of demonstrations.

Malawians on Friday demonstrated against president Peter Mutharika leadership.

MCCCI officials told local radios that the loss is so big for the economy of a small country like Malawi.

Meanwhile, Malawi Economic Justice Network executive director Dalitso Kubalasa has urged Government to ensure good governance to avoid these Demonstrations to no avail. Kubalasa said every business man or woman is already aware what happens in demonstrations.

Memories of Malawians are also fresh of 20 people who were killed during the July 20, 2011 Demonstrations in Malawi.
