Two teenagers of Mzondo Kachimbwinda village in Chitukula, Lilongwe have been killed by lightning while in engaging in a sexual act in a maize field hospital sources have confirmed. Details of the incident are that teenagers Patricia Guwe aged 12 and Anderson Yohane both from same village went to the maize field for their encounter.

Kanengo Police public relations officer Laban Makalani said the deceased were caught outside when heavy rains with thunders began suddenly. Makalani said when the parents of the two reported the matter to police, the officers visited the scene and collected dead bodies to Kamuzu Central Hospital where medics confirmed that death was caused by lightning. Both of them were standard 6 students at Dzenza Primary School.

Police stated “If you are outside, seek refuge in a car or grounded building when lightning or thunder begins and that if you are caught outside away from a building or car, stay clear of water bodies and tall objects like trees.” said Makalani.

Makalani says to avoid lightning find a low spot or depression and crouch down as low as possible, but don’t lie down on the ground. “If you are inside, avoid taking baths or showers and don’t wash dishes. Also avoid using landline phones, televisions, and other appliances that conduct electricity.”
