Felix Kasinda Mbewe, a young man based in Lilongwe aspiring to become Member of Parliament in Mchinji, made history, when he handed over medical drugs and other medical supplies at Kumikundi Health Center worth K0.5Million. Communities said the development was the first time that a son from the village donated drugs.
In his speech, Kasinda said he decided to come at the center after hearing reports that some women and children were not receiving adequate medical attention whenever they were sick. “It’s a pity to see our women and children suffering by travelling long distance and yet they don’t find drugs,” said Kasinda.
In his speech, Principal Senior Group Village Headman Mkangira commended Kasinda for the gesture. Mkangira said the village which is located in the area of Traditional Authority Mduwa that has a lot of rich business people but they have not done anything towards the health center.
Medical assistant Reckson Njiragoma said the hospital is facing challenges because it is currently serving 67,000 people which are beyond its planned figures. Njirangoma said currently, the center has no adequate functioning toilets. Kasinda promised to build new facilities.
Items which Kasinda brought at the center include; Disposable gloves, Methylated spirit, Paracetamol suspension, Paracetamol tablets, syringes, cotton and wool. Kasinda realizing brought in sugar, Soya pieces and many other items.
