Airtel Malawi on Tuesday donated various medical supplies to Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Lilongwe following the hospital’s call for assistance with several medical items.
Airtel Malawi’s Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Norah Chavula Chirwa applauded the hospital staff for rising above the resource challenges that Nkhoma Mission Hospital and most hospitals in the country are continuously facing. “The fact that Nkhoma receives a lot of patients per day even with various resource challenges of inadequate medicine, beds and even mattresses is why as Airtel, we decided to come in and assist,” said Ms. Chavula Chirwa.
Receiving the donation, Nkhoma Mission Hospital Senior Medical Staff, Dr. Francis Kachedwa, commended Airtel for the timely donation as this was not the first time that the Smartphone network had come to their rescue. “These items have come at the right time for our maternity ward which utilizes a lot of resources due to the number of cases attending to on a daily basis.” Dr.Kachedwa highlighted that the Nkhoma Hospital serves big area.
The items donated included sterile gloves, gauze, cotton wool, chlorine and medication as part of the mobile telecom. In his statement Reverend Kalebe commended Airtel for the good gesture. Kalebe urged other companies to do the same.
