Government has ordered state owned Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) not to cover any event organised by Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

Inside sources have confirmed to The Malawi Star that FAM’s decision to receive K44 million from a certain prophet for Flames’s engagements angered Government who immediately pressed the orders.

The development escalated on Tuesday when MBC did not cover the Presidential Cup draw which was being conducted by the FA.

When asked, no official from the FA commented on the row between the association and Government but a source who opted for anonymity tipped this publication that every event organised at FAM will not be covered by the state broadcaster.

Efforts to speak to Patricia Kaliati, who is the Information Minister, proved futile as she was not picking up her call.

Government got mad at FAM for receiving the donation and immediately told the FA’s General Secretary that his contract will not be renewed next year when it expires.

Kaliati; out to lunch??

Both parties are yet to respond towards the latest development.
