The attacking midfielder was left out of Mighty Wanderers squad by the technical panel just hours before the closure of the local transfer market by Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to attract interest from Big Bullets who offered him a three-year deal.

After days of speculations, Kondwani Kumwenda has finally put to paper a three-year contract with the reigning Super League Champions on Wednesday and is expected to start training with the club on Thursday afternoon.

Kumwenda’s signing will bring a sigh of relief to the Bullets family who lost Jafali Chande to their cross-town rivals before the start of the new season.

During their goalless draw to Moyale Barracks on Saturday, Bullets lacked creativity in the midfield for the entire 90 minutes.

The player’s move to Bullets will not go well with Wanderers Supporters Committee which strongly opposed the decision by Jack Chamangwana led technical panel to release the player.

A fortnight ago, in-house fighting within Wanderers family resurfaced over the issue, with Supporters Chairman Yamikani Kaliyapa demanding an explanation from General Secretary Mike Butao as to why the player was given the chop yet he was very instrumental during the 2015 season.

His winning goal against Bullets in the Carlsberg Cup finals at Civo Stadium will forever be remembered by the Nomads’ supporters who never wanted the player to leave the club.

He has joined Bullets as a free agent because his contract expired on Monday.
