Reports reaching this publication, indicate that chaos erupted within Chitheka area, in Nkhatabay west on Friday, where villagers fought a war of knives.

A close source to The Malawi Star confided that two furious fighters were stabbed to death in the process.
“There is a group of villagers which always cause fights in this village and this time, they did the same.
However, it was intense as two villagers were murdered in the process,” said Samuel Banda, an eye witness.
The Malawi Star has also established that the area has no Police Unit, a development that lender to insecurity.
Village Headman Myangala, confirmed the tragedy citing that criminalities may recur with the absence of proper security.
“Of course, the Police came from Nkhatabay district and arrested about two suspected murderers, but still without having a police unit to our proximity, such criminalities may continue,” said Myangala.
The area which lays about 50 kilometres from Mzuzu city to the south of Mazamba forest is home to about six thousand people but still depends on services of police from Nkhatabay District-about 60 kilometers away.
When we went to the press this article, Police publicist for the district, Sergeant, Ignatius Esau, was yet to shed more light on the tragedy.
Meanwhile, his body has been referred to Chitheka Health centre for postmortem.
