Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board ( MPBCB) says all is set to host this year’s African Boxing Union and World Boxing Council Convention in May.

Speaking to The Malawi Star, Board’s spokesperson Frank Chibisa said as a committee they have put everything in place though some preparations are still undergoing but he promised that the works will be done before first of May 2016.
According to Chibisa, Malawi will host this Convention for the first time in History and he also said that this is the first time that World Boxing Council President Millicio Sulaiman is Visiting African continent.
He, however, appealed to insurance companies and well-wishers to take this advantage by marketing their products through this convention since about 28 countries are expected to participate. he has also
asked Insurance companies to come forward and insure all the boxers in the country from now onwards.
The convention among other things will train boxing Managers, Judges, promoters, and referees, and it will run from 11th To 13th May 2016 at Bingu International Conference Center in Lilongwe.
Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) was initiated last year by the World Boxing Council from Malawi Amateur Boxing Association of Malawi (MABA) to manage professional boxing in the country with the aim of promoting Boxing sport in Malawi.
