Police in Ntchisi have arrested 10 people for allegedly being found in possession of forestry products.

The incident took place on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Kaombe Forest Reserve.
The police report indicates that officers in Ntchisi accompanied by Ntchisi forest officials conducted a raid at Kaombe Forest Reserve where 10 people were arrested after they were found cutting down trees and burning them for charcoal.
Police arrested the suspects and 32 bags of charcoal were recovered.
The suspects will appear in court soon to answer a charge of being found in possession of forest products contrary to the Forest Act.
Recently, Chiradzulu District Forestry office launched a campaign against deforestation citing that this tendency is fuelling the effects of climate change.
