The two teams had a friendly match on Sunday afternoon which ended 1-all draw but their rivalry is set to be renewed when they battle it out for the first three points of the season.

Both teams had a season to endure in 2015 as they performed below par in the entire campaign. However, it was Silver Strikers who managed to collect six points from the two matches over the Nomads.

Wanderers have added some new faces to their squad but are yet to find their rhythm as they have struggled to score any goals during the pre-season games.

Head coach Jack Chamangwana, though admitting that his strikers are yet to find their goal scoring form, is optimistic of having a very successful season.

“We are still not yet there but once we find our rhythm, we will have a very successful season. The strikers have struggled a bit in front of goals during the pre-season games but I am very optimistic of sharpening them up before facing Silver Strikers,” he said.

The Bankers, who are on a rebuilding exercise following the release of some senior key players, have set their eyes on winning the championship after surrendering it to Big Bullets in 2014.

Despite assembling a youthful side, Coach Lovemore Fazili says his charges are ready to deliver.

“We are ready for the new season despite having such a youthful squad. We will be facing Wanderers in our opening match but the boys are unfazed as they are eager to bring back the championship after losing it to Bullets two years ago.

“We have assembled a very good squad capable of winning trophies because there is a mixture of experienced players and young players who have done extremely well during the pre-season games so we are very much ready,” he said.

Bullets and Moyale Barracks will officially launch this year’s campaign on Saturday.
