Foster Namwera scored the only goal on Saturday afternoon to inspire Mighty Wanderers to a hard-fought 1-nil victory over Cobbe Barracks in a pre-season friendly at Zomba Community Centre Ground.

Both teams were brilliant on the day as the Soldiers pressed harder in the opening quarter-hour mark.
However, the Nomads settled down very quickly as Patrick Gunde and Rafique Namwera made things happen for the Carlsberg Cup champions.
With some few minutes to play in the half, Namwera became the unlikely scorer as he connected well a corner from the right flank of the field, 1-nil.
Come the second half, the lower league side pressurized the visitors but Peter Munthali in goals was at his level best as he made some crucial saves in the opening minutes of the half.
Nomads’s Jabulani Linje and Jimmy Zakazaka wasted some clear goal-scoring opportunities as the Lali Lubani boys increased their attacking pace just after the hour mark.
Both teams were solid in defence as series of counter-attacking football in the half failed to produce goals to either side and after 90 minutes of play, it ended 1-0 in favor of Wanderers.
The Nomads are fine tuning for the upcoming 2016 Premier League which kicks off on 16th April 2016.
Wanderers will play rivals Big Bullets on Saturday next week in the Chifundo Shield Cup organized by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to officially open the 2016 soccer season.
