A 29-year-old man in Nkhotakota district has died after drowning into a one meter well. Police have identified the deceased as Khili Bwalo.

According to Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Williams Kaponda, the incident occurred on the night of 27th March 2016 Traditional Authority Mwansambo in the district. Kaponda said the deceased is said to have been drunk on that fateful day.
“On 27th this month, Bwalo went for Kachasu drinking within the Village. Due to the drunkenness he went astray and fellow into a well,” said Kaponda.
The Law enforcers’ publicist further told this publication that the deceased was discovered in the well on the following day morning around 0600hours.
Then Father of the deceased who has been identified as Gibson Bwalo aged 63, reported the matter to Mwansambo Police Unit and later to Nkhotakota Police Station for the death of his son.
Later, the Police together with a Medical Officer visited the scene and post-mortem was conducted where the results showed that the deceased had died due to suffocation.
The deceased hails from Pembera Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwansambo in Nkhotakota.
In a related development, an 18-year-old boy has also died after drowning in Chitete dam in Kasungu district. The Police have identified the deceased as Adam Wisiki who went swimming together with his friends at the dam.
His colleagues were surprised after they discovered that he was not coming out of the water. And after searching him they found him dead.
