Malawi’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has claimed that Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is going through a political crisis and that should expect many members dumping it.

Speaking at a rally during the unveiling of new party members Secretary General for DPP Eckleni Kudontoni said there is dirty in the main opposition party.
Kudontoni further denied claims from Lilongwe Msozi South Parliamentarian who is of MCP that DPP is has started buying MCP members in order to join their party.
“There is nothing done wrong here and these people (councilors) have joined our party own their own will. We haven’t hooked in anyone since we can’t deny anyone who wants to join,” he said.
Among others who have joined the party are duo MCP councilors, Moses Chidzungu and Yohane Kachingwe and represent for Katope and Dzanzi wards respectively.
Recently, MCP’s legislator for Lilongwe Msozi South, Vitus Dzoole Mwale, accused DPP of bribing MCP members to join their political party.
But reacting to the claims, Katope Ward Councilor said that there are a lot of problems in MCP with Councilors that are beyond them.
“We as councilors under MCP, where ever others are listening and the general public is witnessing, there are problems within the party,” he claimed.
Ironically, both Chidzungu and Kachingwe wards are under constituency of Dzoole.
