As a way to assure it’s committed to the provision of quality, accessible and equitable education, the Malawi government has started recruiting teachers.
The decision to recruit primary and secondary school teachers is part of its plan to revamp the country’s education sector.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Tuesday said it has started recruiting 10,500 primary school teachers and 466 secondary teachers.
According to a statement made available to The Malawi Star, recruitment process has already begun with primary teachers who will be hired from April 2016. This will be followed by recruitment of secondary school teachers whose advertisement will float soon.
“The Ministry of education, science and technology would like to inform the general public that as per as original plan will recruit 10,500 primary school teachers and 466 secondary school teachers. The recruitment process has already begun with primary teachers who will be hired from April 2016,” reads the release signed by Secretary for Education Science and Technology L.V Magreta.
Meanwhile, the Ministry is expected to promote 169 Principal Primary School Teachers grade (TJ), 516 Secondary School Teachers Grade (TJ), 483 Secondary School Teachers Grade (TI) and 50 Lectures Grade (TI).
