Makonyola who in 2014 was the team’s coach has been at the centre of speculation alongside Gilbert Chirwa and former Escom United coach Alex Masanjala.

In an interview with The Malawi star, Epac FC General Secretary Chiyamiko Lita confirmed the appointment saying Makonyola has signed a one-year contract.

“We had a meeting yesterday and we have endorsed the name of Audrow Makonyola as our new coach. We have given him a one-year contract which will be renewed based on performance,” Lita said.

Lita added that they will not expect much from the new coach but they are optimistic that he will succeed in this coming season.
“We cannot disclose the conditions that are in the contract but we expect him to do well. As a team, we will give him all the support to bring the desired results during his period with us,” he said.

On his part, Makonyola said he is happy to return to his old club and says he is ready to face the challenge.
” I have accepted the job and I am excited to reunite with my former club again. I will not promise much but it is a wish for every coach to bring good results to any team. It’s a challenge but I am ready, “said Makonyola.

The appointment has come after former Epac FC coach Abas Makawa dumped the Lilongwe based side and is reported to have taken over a Division 1 team Lake View FC in Ntcheu District.

However, unconfirmed reports are also showing that Makawa is going to fill the vacant coaching post at Dedza Young Soccer following the departure of Milius Pofera Jegwe.

Meanwhile, Epac FC has revealed that they will sign four experienced players before the start of the season.
