Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu has warned Flames players to expect a tense atmosphere when they travel to Guinea later this month for group L 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Both teams have a point each from two games but Flames’ trip to West African nation will see the National Elephants playing at home for the first time in months following an Ebola outbreak which hit some parts of West African countries including Guinea.
Speaking to a state broadcaster on Wednesday morning, the Fa President warned the players to expect a very hostile reception inside the stadium by the home fans who will be excited to watch their team playing at home after months in the wilderness.

“Ther will definitely be a very hostile reception inside the stadium because the fans will be excited to watch their team playing at home for the first time in months after the Ebola outbreak which saw Guinea playing games in Morocco. The situation will be very intimidating but I believe they are preparing well for the match,” he said.
Nyamilandu then added that a friendly match with any West African country will help the players to prepare very well for the showdown.
“We are trying to secure a friendly match with a West African national before travelling to Conakry. We are still discussing with our counterparts and we are very hopeful of securing one,” concluded Nyamilandu.
Beating Guinea in both legs is a must for Ernest Mtawali’s boys if they are to make it for Gabon next year.
Currently, local players are camping at Chiwembe for the clash, with professional players joining them a week before the showdown.
