Mulli donates a vehicle to Mutharika
By: Andrew Chilapondwa
He was a close ally to Malawi’s former leader, the late Bingu Wa Mutharika, but his relationship with the current Malawian President Peter Mutharika is that of a cat and mouse.
Their fallout followed Government’s decision to confiscate Mulli’s property for failing to pay a multi-billion Kwacha debt to Malawi Savings Bank (MSB).
As a result, Mulli protested by not attending Mulhakho Wa Alhomwe, a culture heritage for the Lomwes, giving Malawians all the more reason to believe that he is indeed not in good terms with the current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government.
Surprisingly, he donated a car to DPP during the elevation of Senior Chief Ngongoliwa some weeks ago, a move that has left Malawians with more questions questions than answers.
During Bingu’s era, several contracts were awarded to the business tycoon, but everything just stopped when Peter took over from Peoples Party (PP).
The vehicle will be used by newly appointed DPP regional governor for the South, Charles Nchacha, who has described Mulli as a DPP ‘well wisher’.
Mulli is yet to respond to the allegations that he donated the vehicle in search for favors from the Mutharika-
led administration.
