Flames who climbed two places up to this position in February this year, have also maintained their 28th position on the Africa’s rankings. Currently the Flames are in Camp in preparation for Guinea match for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this month of which if they win, the result will see them moving up on the World’s football national teams radar. Whereas Flames opponents, Guinea, are on 63rd position in the world ranking and 12th in Africa. But they have been more active than Flames since they participated in this year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) which took place in Rwanda. Cape Verde Island’s national team has booted out Ivory Coast on top to second position, with Algeria, Nigeria and Senegal behind them. In the World, Belgium has maintained the first position with Argentina, Spain, and Germany trailing on their back. Malawi needs to be very active this year if they want to break into the top 80 in the world as was the case five years ago. But its average participation since the creation of Fifa rankings, it has been on position 100. |
