Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 39 year old Masautso Kalaliki for personating as a Malawi Police Officer.

According to the law enforcers’ spokesperson Kingsley Dandaula, the convict was collecting money from desperate job seekers by claiming that he was a human resource manager of Police.
“On 13 February 2016, the suspect went to the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Kalumba in the same district where he lied that he was a human resource manager from National Police Headquarters recruiting people who wanted to join the law enforcers.”
“He collected K50, 000.00 and original copies of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) certificates from desperate job seekers by lying to them that he would soon start facilitating their entry into the Police service,” he said.
The convict was then reported to the Police by well wishers who became suspicious of his weird demands for certificates and money.
“We got the tip from well wishers and we invaded his home where we discovered various Junior Certificates of Education (JCE), certificates of attendance, certificates of recognition and other professional documents.”
“He will answer two charges of personating as a Police Officer and theft by trick,” he explained.
Police have since advised Malawians that any vacancy from the law enforcers is advertised in the newspapers and various radio stations across the country.
The suspect hails from Nkhuku village in the area of Traditional Authority Malili Lilongwe.
