Super League champions Big Bullets and Carlsberg Cup winners Mighty Wanderers will face each other in a charity shield match organized by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) on 2 April 2016.
The Fa’s competitions manager Gomezgani Zakazaka made the announcement to the media on Saturday soon after the closure of Extraordinary General Meeting at Mpira Village in Chiwembe on Saturday afternoon.
He said the competition was meant to be participated by Super League winners and Presidential Cup champions but since it was not played, the second most participated cup was considered.
“Super League winner will face Carlsberg cup champions on 2 April, a week before kicking off the new Super League season.
“The shield was meant for Super League champions and Presidential Cup champions but since it was not played, the most participated cup was considered which is Carslberg cup so the battle is on,” said Zakazaka.
This will mark the begining of the Fa Charity Shield Cup in the top flight. Super League season kicks off on 9 April 2016.
