Much missed tournament, Presidential Men football cup is back after being phased out two years ago.

The Cup was introduced by late Bingu Wa Mutharika under presidential initiative on sports to promote and develop various sporting activities in the country.
According to statement from Football Association of Malawi (FAM), the tournament is expected to run for next four months at district level.
“The Presidential Cup is back for 2016 following a break of 2 years and will be open for all teams starting at district level. It will kick off on 5th March and will end up to 30th June 2016 The tournament will be held at district and regional level,” reads part of the statement.
The statement has further stated that district champions will join the four top regional teams and Super League teams for national draw.
Meantime, registration at District and Regional League level is underway. Each team at district level is supposed to pay K10, 000.00 and K20, 000.00 for each regional league team.
Malawi Defence force (MDF) outfit, MAFCO football club are defending champions for cup after defeating Silver Strikers football club, 8-7 through penalties, in 2013.
However, the statement has also indicated that Presidential Cup activities for the Youth, Women and Beach soccer will be communicated at a later stage.
