The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) by soccer mother body, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) is underway at Mpira house in the city of Blantyre.

Delegates at the meeting are expected to discuss some of items that were on the agenda during the last year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
According to FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, the meeting was supposed to be conducted last year but was postponed due to court injunctions.
“This EGM comes due to the failed one on 12th December last year due to a court injunction,” said Nyirenda.
He further disclosed delegates will also discuss welfare of players and club licensing.
During last year’s AGM some of the candidates that were aspiring for FAM presidency obtained court injunction to bar FAM from going ahead with the elections.
Presidential candidates that obtained an injunction were a Canadian based Malawian Willy Yabwanya Phiri and Wilkins Mijiga alongside vice presidency seat aspirant, Tiya Somba Banda.
