Police in the commercial city of Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 21 year old man for allegedly killing his father by cutting off his head.
Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Dandaula identified the suspect as Yohane Chambu.
According to Dandaula, the suspect killed his father Sainani Chambu due to drug influence.
He added that before killing his father Chambu severely beaten up his mother and cut off her hand.
“On Thursday the suspect went to his parents’ house and beat up his mother before cutting her arms with a panga knife. He also beat a baby belonging to his mother,” said Dandaula.
Dandaula added that the suspect followed his father to the garden where he killed him by cutting of his head.
“Later on he proceeded to the garden where his father was working and beat him up, took out his eyes and cut off his head,” explained Dandaula.
Chambu is expected to appear before the court to answer murder charges contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
Yohane Chambu 52 hails from Fisi Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Chiseka in Lilongwe.
