There was drama in Lilongwe Mgona on Friday when hungry Malawians descended and left four Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) members critically injured during a tree planting ceremony held by Gertrude Mutharika.

Information that The Malawi Star has indicate that the scuffle ensued after an old woman chanted that they are dying of hunger while DPP fans are busy parading with maize symbols in their party uniforms.
According to the source close to this publication, DPP members mocked the woman that shouted at them for failure to address hunger problems that has hit the country.
But reacting to the incident Kabaza Tax operators from Mgona trading center stoned ruling party supporters leaving for critically injured.
“DPP fans that started the fight after being shouted at for the party failure to address current problems. These Kabaza tax operators were just defending an innocent woman who shouted at the party members. In the process four of their fans were injured and reported the issue to Kanengo Police Station.” Said the source,
Effort to hear from DPP publicity secretary Francis Kasaila was futile as he couldn’t respond to his phone which went ringing after several attempts.
