Nsanje Lalanje Candidate Winea Wakudyanaye Faces Arrest on Orders from DPP

By Our Reporters

Ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has ordered Malawi Police to arrest one of the Nsanje Lalanje independent candidates Ms. Winea Wakudyanaye for her failure to step down from her candidature from the forth coming by elections despite being forced to do so. Two senior DPP officials close with the scheme told our reporters that DPP has been pressing Winea to step down but Winea has always refused to buy their demands.

Our sources said it seems there is panic in the ongoing Nsanje Lalanje constituency by elections that is why one candidate Winnie Wakudyanaye has been earmarked for an arrest. The DPP believe that Winea will divide the votes and give room for MCP Sitolo to win the elections. “There was an impromptu meeting in Blantyre where DPP has been planning to release a fake file purported to have been used by her to steal government money under the pretext of having her husband dead. She is accused of filling death gratuity claim forms around 2009. Winnie wanted to contest during the previous primary elections held at Bangula for the ruling DPP. She was barred in the process citing her late arrival and failure to meet procedures in registering as a candidate” said our source.

Nsanje Lalanje constituency felt vacant after the death of Sam Ganda who won during the 2014 tripartite elections on an independent candidate. So far DPP will be represented by late Ganda’s wife while Sitolo will represent MCP. Mr. Njazi who lost primaries to Mrs. Gladys Sam Ganda and Winnie Wakudyanaye have upped their game to stand as independent candidates following their dissatisfaction with their party’s previous primary elections conduct.

Sitolo will be standing for the second time after he lost on PP ticket in 2014 while Winnie stood as independent in 2009 and lost to Sam Ganda who stood on DPP. In 2004 Winnie attempted again but was defeated by Mr. Phoso during UDF primaries. Steven Malamba won on RP ticket under the Mgwirizano Coalition.

It is not yet know what happens if Winea

DPPis found guilty of a case in the scandal currently being framed.
