The aspiring member of Parliament for the upcoming by elections in area 23 Ruben Ngwenya, on Wednesday launched a multi-million project which is aimed at transforming lives of people on the ground.
The projects launched include areal roads upgrading, rehabilitation, Second Malawi rural electrification program, water and sanitation and small scale loans for women and youths.
Ngwenya said it’s time to start work now than waiting to become an MP. “As you are aware this has been my place, I call this my home. That is why I will dedicate all my energies to ensure that people from my area benefits from my presence.” said Ngwenya.
Some of the projects includes construction of primary schools, grading of roads, electrifying some of the areas especially Area 44 Tambalare just to mention but a few. During the launching ceremony chiefs commended Ngwenya for the projects.
Dr. Ngwenya who is aspiring for the upcoming Lilongwe City South constituency by elections on recently made a historic landslide win against a businessman identified as Mr. Nyasulu.
Ngwenya amassed a whopping 1, 304 votes against minimal figure of 116 against a strong businessman. Ngwenya said he was happy that democracy has taken its course. “I am very happy for winning these primaries. This means that I am now a legitimate candidate ready for the show.” said Ngwenya.
Lilongwe City South East constituency fell vacant following the court ruling after the extended high court battle against the former MP Bentley Namasasu.
