The Office of The President and Cabinet (OPC) has announced a name change for the Ministry of Information and Civic Education to Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Civic Education.
The ministry which is currently headed by outspoken Patricia Kaliati has had the new name effective Friday 22nd April.
According to a press statement which this publication has seen by this publication and has signed by Chief Secretary George Mkondiwa reads:
“The Office of the President and Cabinet wishes to inform the general public and all government Ministries, Department Agencies (MDA’s) that the Ministry of Information and Civic
Education has been renamed as Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and Civic Education,”
The statement further states that the change has been made to reflect the direction the Malawi government is taking in improving Information Technology Services (ICT) in the country.
“The change has been made to reflect the direction that government is taking to develop the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the country”.
