The Zomba based side has acquired the services of the lethal striker from their military sisters Cobbe Barracks united.

Makwale scooped the golden boot award after netting 36 goals for Cobbe Barracks which finished on position 2 last season.

The 22 year old striker has been training with Red lions during the pre season.

However, in an interview with The Malawi star, Red Lions assistant coach Pritchard Mwanza confirmed that the striker has been included in their final squad ready to play in this year’s TNM super league.

“Yes it’s true, we have registered Makwale formerly of Cobbe Barracks united. Right now he is nursing an injury but he is a good player, very talented and I hope that his inclusion will add some power to our team,” Mwanza said.

He however, challenged the newly recruited striker to continue his former scoring pace in order to fight for his place in the first eleven.

On his part, Makwale said he is ready to play in the top flight league for the first time in his football career.

“I am happy to play for red lions this season. Super league is very competitive but I’m more than ready to showcase my skills. I won’t promise much but if they will give me the game time I hope I will deliver ,” said Makwale.

Red lions have started the 2016 TNM super league on a high note after beating Epac fc 1 nil  in their opening game on Sunday at Balaka stadium.

Boniface Kaulesi netted the only goal to separate the two teams.

Their next fixture is against defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets on Sunday at the same venue.
