APM Defends New Cabinet

Malawi’s President Peter Mutharika has defended his newly appointed cabinet as he has urged Malawians to support these new Ministers.

His remarks came after some of the Political Analysts in this Country faulted him of reappointing some of people whom they thing are useless to be present in the Cabinet.

One of these Analysts is Chrispine Mphande a Lecture at Mzuzu University who told The Malawi Star that he feels that nothing has been done because underperforming Ministers have maintained their positions.

But addressing the gathering at the rally at Nchalo ground in Chikhwawa district said he has heard what others Political Commentators have commented on his new Cabinet.

“I have heard from some Commentators that faces that are in the Cabinet are old ones as others have have branded them recycled Politicians,” said Mutharika.

He said he is wonder why these Analysts are saying the new Cabinet has comprised of old people yet there are new faces.

“I wonder when you are saying that these are old people, look at Kumpalume, Fabiano, Gambi Tembenu, are new faces,” uttered Mutharika.

The Malawi Leader insisted that these people in new cabinet can not mislead him when it comes to running this nation as other people are saying.

“Misleading me? I think over my, I don’t need anyone to surround me in order to influence me,” explained Mutharika.

His remarks came only hours after he reshuffled his Cabinet and rotated Ministers from different ministries. He has only fired one person, Allan Chiyembekeza, as Minister of Agriculture, Irrigationd and Water development replacing him with George Chaponda.
