Malawi Police in the Commercial City of Blantyre has arrested two men who are suspected that have been stealing money from people. They are being suspected of committing theft by trick.

Police have identified the two as Nelson Samu, 40 years old and a 45 year old Elia Banda.

Confirming the arrest to The Malawi Star, Blantyre Police Public Relations Officer,Elizabeth Divala, said the two were arrested on Friday 1st February 2016 at Limbe Cathedral in the City.

She said the two suspects who have been conducting their businesses since last year in the name of Hope Ministry along Chiradzulu road, were arrested after the Police got a tip off.

The suspected thieves were arrested at Limbe Cathedral after attempted to trick someone who alerted the Police.

According to the Law enforcers Spokesperson, the two have been claiming that have got Fish Powder and they admitted of the crime upon questioned after they collected money amounting to K1.5 million.

“They were telling people that they have Fish Powder and they tricked a certain Man and went away with K1.5 million and they admitted having committed the offence,” explained Divala.

Meantime the Police are asking anyone who has been tricked by these tricksters to report at Blantyre Police Station for identification.

Nelson Samu hails from Mitawa Village in the area of Traditional Authority Likoswe in Chiladzulu district and while Elia Banda comes from Mukwakatongola Village in the area of Traditional Authority Zilakowa in Nkhatabay district.
