A very poignant mood engulfed Mkuli village in Nkhata bay district on Tuesday, when a teenager identified as Macroy Mpuma, was found floating-dead in Lake Malawi.

Information gathered by this publication, indicates that the deceased died after drowning in the Lake amid fishing with his colleagues.
“His friends reported the issue to us and in a company of some local authorities we reported the same to Police who instituted a marine search,” said Joseph Chirwa-Uncle to the deceased.
Police publicist for the district, Sergeant Ignatius Esau, who confirmed the incident, said following a search, the boy was found floating-dead with part of his body consumed by fish near Butterfly lodge.
“We invited medics from Nkhata bay hospital, who confirmed that he died due to suffocation,” said Esau.
The deceased was expected to sit for his Junior Certificate exams in May this year at Saint Augustine Secondary School.
He hailed from Mkuli village, Traditional Authority Kabunduli in Nkhata bay.
