Reports reaching The Malawi Star indicates that a 16 year old boy from Mangochi has committed suicide by hanging himself in a Mango tree.
The police have said that the incident has occurred in the morning on the 29th March 2016.
Confirming the development, Mangochi police station Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Amina Tepani Daudi said the deceased recently lost two brothers. She assumed that this might have caused the young man to commit suicide.
“The deceased was an imbecile and was working as a house boy. He has lost two brothers recently that prompted him to consider committing suicide. Besides that, it has been alleged that the young man recently attempted to throw himself in the Shire River,” said Daudi.
The law enforcement publicist added that postmortem conducted at Mangochi District Hospital revealed that the deceased died due to strangulation.
Police have identified the deceased as Jolly Luvello.
Jolly hailed from Mpondamponda Village, Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi District.
