Former Red Lions coach Collins Nkuna has bragged that his coming to Moyale Barracks football club proudly knows as Lions of Kaning’ina will really improve the performance of the team.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Malawi Star on Friday, Nkuna said he has already started injecting some skills into the team such that fans should expect high-quality performance in the upcoming season.
He said Moyale being a team with very passionate players; soccer pundits must expect world class football from the same in the much expected season.
“I am optimistic that we will be the League champions because since joining the team, I have already spotted more talented young men who I believe will surely be of great help,” said Nkuna.
He succeeds Nicholus Mhango whose contract with the club expired. Charles Kamanga will be his deputy in managing the team throughout the season.
When asked on how he feels after being fired from his former club, Nkuna declined to comment further but only maintained that it is part of Life.
“Nobody is permanent on any Job post thus I took it as normal because that’s part of Life,” he said.
He also could not shed more light on whether he has plans to recruit additional players to boost power in Kaning’ina Lions’ den.
The league is earmarked to commence next month and it has improved because another team has been added and that means there will be sixteen teams competing for the title.
There are three teams in the Northern region now after Mzuzu University football club survived relegation by beating Dedza Young Soccer on goal difference.
Meanwhile, there are reports indicating that Dedza Young Soccer has obtained a court injunction against the Super League authority on their suggestion to add a 16th team to the league through playoffs.
