A Malawi national football team player has argued with his coach Earnest Mtawali that the team is not preparing well for the 2017 African cup of nations qualifiers against Guinea up this month.

Mtawali: blamedThe soccer star who pleaded for anonymity for security reasons maintained that much as they are spending weeks in the camp at Chiwembe, nothing serious is being done so far.

According to him, some of the players included in the squad are not that fit to meet some soccer veterans of their counterparts in Guinea.

“The way I see it, we cannot continue to give false hopes to Malawians out there. Our team is not that fit to beat Guinea.”

Some players need more training to match with others. Remember our team simply invites players when we have a game thus it becomes hard for them to co-ordinate well in just two weeks,” he said.

He was responding to a recent article published on The Malawi Star in which flames manager Mtawali claimed that his squad is preparing well in the camp.

He said that although they will be playing away from home but most players are preparing well for the game because they realize its importance to the nation.

“Our chances of making it to Gabon depend on the two games, so we will work extra hard to collect six points,” said Mtawali.

However the anonymous player warned Mtawali never to make Malawians expect more from his team without sorting out some visible problems.

He advised him to be telling Malawians the truth to avoid frustrating them after losing such simple games.

“He must remember that we frustrated Malawians when we were beaten 2-1 by Zimbabwe, a team which was not even organized.

We drew with Swaziland, a team without any adorable history in African football.

And here we are talking about Guinea which has been preparing for the same game for so long,” added the player.

Malawians should indeed be well informed of their chances of qualifying for the 2017 African Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon is tied on to the two consecutive games to be played against Guinea.
