Award winning Afro singer Piksy who was nominated for this year Kora all African music awards has pleaded with Malawians to vote for him as only 17 days have left before the closing date.

The artist, real name Evans Zangazanga was nominated for ‘Best Male – Southern Africa’. He got nominated for his first acoustic song ‘Moto’ taken from his 2015 album ‘mnthunzi’.

The unamata hit maker posted on his Facebook page urging Malawians to support.
“Voting ends on the 20th March and you allowed to vote more than once. You may vote for me as best Male Southern

Africa by sending an sms KORA 53 to +24898400”, reads the post.
The Blantyre based artist is among 156 artists in 26 categories of the PAN African competition scheduled to take place on 20 March in Windhoek, Namibia.

Meanwhile, Local legendary jazz musician Wambali ‘mteweti’ Mkandawire who is the first musician to receive Kora award, nominated in 2003 was on record saying Piksy nomination is vital to expose the country’s music at international stage.

Among those competing for best male – Southern Africa category is the South African, AKA, two Angolan artists C4 Pedro and core on Du, Namibian Gaza and Zambian Petersen.

The winner will receive a grand prize of $1 million (about K600 million). In the best male category, the winner will get $50 000 (K30 million).

Kora awards are given annually for music achievement in sub Saharan Africa. It was launched was in 1994 and by Enerst Adjovi.
