Blue Eagles duo of Schumaker Kuwali and John Banda, Silver Strikers duo of Green Harawa and Ndaziona Chatsalira and Richard Chipuwa from Mighty Wanderers were all cleared on the transfer deadline day which was on Sunday 29th February to join the Mocambola league.

Three of the players have joined their new clubs on loan while others have permanently switched sides.

Confirming the development to the local media, FAM’s transfer manager Casper Jangale said the players are eligible to play in the Mocambola league.

“We have cleared them to play for the top flight league in Mozambique on the deadline day from which three of them have joined the league on loan. Green Harawa, Shumaker Kuwali and John Banda have just left their clubs on loan whilst Ndaziona Chatsalira and Richard Chipuwa have been signed on a permanent basis,” he said.

Asked on why the association left it until so late to make their moves on the deadline day, Jangale said;

“Contractual disagreements between the parental clubs and the interested clubs made it very difficult to conclude the deals on time hence making deadline day movements. Others had no contracts at their respective clubs but at the end of the day, we sorted everything out,” he concluded.

Top flight teams in Mozambique have now attracted more than 20 players from Malawi for the past four years.
