Malawian gospel hip hop star Gwamba has confirmed that he has started recording a new single entitled ‘Alleluya’ which will be out next month.
Speaking in an interview with The Malawi Star, the artist said he will start with a video before releasing the audio on 18 March from which he has featured Emm Q and Tammy who were part of his first single ‘Better’.
The Lilongwe based rapper said he is working on a new album which will feature some of Malawi’s finest gospel musicians like Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera, Patience Namadingo and Onesmus Kaluwa.
“In this new album, I will feature some of the finest gospel musicians in Malawi,” he said.
The video will be shot by Sukez Bensam and Ron Cz whilst DJ Sley and BFB will produce the audio.
The musician, whose real name is Duncan Zgambo, became popular with his ‘Ndiyima pa chulu’ song before announcing his retirement from secular music in January.
His decision to start singing gospel music received mixed reactions from his followers.
Despite the criticism, Gwamba stood firm by defending his decision saying it was his time to serve the Lord after wasting much of his talent on “Worldly” things.
