Inside sources confided with this publication that these trained health workers graduated six months ago but they are not employed as government has remained silent on the issue.

It has also been discovered that these Medical personnel are yet to receive their papers hence finding it very difficult to secure jobs at private hospitals.

“We did not even attend our practical because we had no funds as a result, we are just lying idle in our homes without any hope,” lamented Sarah Banda, who is one of the trained health personnel.

Commenting on the issue, Health Ministry spokesperson Adrian Chikumbe admitted that there is indeed a delay in employing the concerned health medics because of financial problems.

“It won’t make any sense if we can employ them today but fail to pay them their salaries in time. Once we secure enough funds, we will definitely employ them,” he said.

Malawi is experiencing the worst economic crisis ever following the depreciation of Kwacha and hunger situation which has left millions of people in dire need of food.
