The Malawi Police in Nkhatabay district have locked up a 23 year old Leonard Mkwapatira on suspicions that he is an illegal drug dealer.
Police publicist in the district, Ignatius Esau who, confirmed the move said the man was also found with about 22 kg of cannabis sativa.
He suspected that the man was transporting the illegal drugs from Nkhotakota to Mzuzu and surrounding areas where he already has customers.
“We arrested him at Makwiya roadblock where he was found with two bags loaded with Marijuana. He is locked up on charges of possessing illegal drugs,” said Esau.
He went on to sound a warning that Police will keep on arresting anyone involved in such illegal business.
The suspect hails from Mkumba village Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu district.
